What to wear to no-gi jiu-jitsu

Because 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Fullerton trains no-gi, there's no uniform to buy. You just need athletic gear that stays put and has nothing to snag a finger or toe.

What to bring to your first class

  • A water bottle.
  • Clipped finger and toe nails, and any long hair tied back — basic mat etiquette that keeps everyone safe.
  • Flip-flops/sandals for walking to and from the mat.
  • That's it — no gi, no belt, no prior experience. Your first class is free.

A note on hygiene

Grappling is close-contact, so clean gear and clean skin matter. Wash your rash guard after every session and shower promptly after class. It's the one rule everybody appreciates.

Rash guard
A fitted athletic top for no-gi; protects skin and won't bunch up.
Board/grappling shorts
Pocket- and zipper-free shorts made for grappling.
Gi
The traditional uniform — not used at a no-gi school like ours.
